| Karima was burned as a child in her family home. Her father was painting their house in Monterey Park, Los Angeles, in preparation for some relatives who were coming to visit from Mexico. Karima was washing up when the thinners exploded, burning her and her father severely.
For years Karima wondered if she would ever have a normal life with a family and children, but a few months ago she was passing a construction site on her way to work when one of the guys yelled out "You have beautiful eyes! I'm going to make you my wife!" Karima yelled back "And I'm going to make you my husband!" They're now engaged. "But I feel like we're married already", says Karima. "In our hearts we are already man and wife". |
