| Jenny was burned at age two. Her father, an alcohollic, fell asleep on the sofa downstairs with a cigarette in his hand. Her mother put the fire out, but later that night it rekindled.
Jenny, however, knew nothing about this. Her parents told her she had been burned in a regular house fire. Jenny only found out the truth years later when she found a newspaper cutting about the fire hidden in her mother's closet. "I never thought I'd have a normal life looking like this" says Jennie. "But I've been married twice, had kids... and I just got a new boyfriend. My life has been like anyone else's really". Not quite like anyone else's though. A couple of years ago Jennie's daughter got tired of her mother always wearing burn make-up to go outside. So she called the Sally Jesse Raphael show, and they went on. Jennie appeared wearing a black veil, and unmasked herself on national TV without make-up. "You should have heard the cheers from the audience when the veil came off", says Jennie. "Ever since then it doesn't bother me to go out without make-up at all". |
