| Equipment | ||||||
| I guess I'm like a lot of photogaphers. I really don't like discussing equipment. I even get sniffy when people ask about it, and say things like "it doesn't matter what box you use". And it doesn't, in the sense that lack of a particular bit of equipment should never be an excuse for not photographing. "Oh, I'd do a lot of street photography if I had a Leica". "Oh, I'd do more landscape but I'm waiting till I have a 4x5".
On another level, discussing equipment is a way of not discussing photography. "What kind of quill did you use, Mr Shakespeare?" makes about as much sense as asking Salgado about his developer. Only, of course, you can BET that Shakespeare had very strong opinions about quills, just as most writers do about word processors and typewriters (and lets not even get into the subject of screenwriters and tab settings). So in the interests of full disclosure, and of admitting that I'm a geek at heart, I offer you the following. But I want you to understand that none of it matters at all. |
