Taken with the new 6x17 Da Yi roll film holder back on the Linhof... the Da Yi back is all over eBay at the moment and although it has some quirks, it's a hell of a bargain.
On Wednesday I was up north winterizing a farmhouse for a friend, but I was done at about 9.30 am so I threw the cameras and the snowshoes in the back of the car and headed over to Epping, where we bought 50 acres of nothing to build a house on. There was between a foot and three feet of powdery snow -- tough going. I hiked in with the Rollei, which froze solid after the first shot, so I hiked back to the car and swapped it for the 4x5, then hiked back. The shots in this set were taken over the space of about five hours. There's a plain HTML version available, if you find Flickr annoying.
Bunch of shots with the Noblex from the farm up in Griersville. I was really experimenting with the camera's ability to 'unwrap' a scene.
As well as the Flickr set linked above there's a plain HTML gallery here which has bigger thumbnails and may be a bit easier to navigate. (Made using Apple's Aperture).
Went on a long and fruitless drive on Saturday looking for pictures in Etobicoke. On the way back I diverted into High Park and had an even more frustrating time. By the time I was done the sun was setting, and I remembered that I wanted to go back to Basin St. in the afternoon light, so I jammed my foot on the gas and sped over. By the time I got there it was tripod or nothing, but the light was great and the red tractor-trailer was parked just right.
I got a couple of beater Grafmatic backs of eBay... one only had 5 septums and the other none at all. Luckily I had a pack of spares from someplace, so I was able to resurrect them. I took the Linhof out to test them. The result was the first 4x5 fractal-tree photo that I really like.
